This site has information about my yoga classes and meditation and mindfulness workshops and courses in Canterbury. You can also find out more about Hatha Yoga and mindfulness, the benefits of practicing yoga and mindfulness meditation and what you might expect when you come to one of my classes or workshops.
My aim as a teacher is to introduce students to the ancient philosophies and practices of yoga and mindfulness, in a way that is relevant and applicable to our Western lifestyles.
I am an accredited British Wheel of Yoga teacher and am also studying as a postgraduate student at the University of Aberdeen to study and research applications and benefits of secular mindfulness practice. I have been developing my own mindfulness practice in the yoga and Buddhist traditions, and practicing Jon Kabat-Zin's Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction approach. I teach regular daytime and evening classes for yoga students at any level, including complete beginners, yoga to individuals who are not able to join group classes for a variety of reasons, and small groups for people with health problems (for example people recovering from illness or injury). I also run one day workshops and courses in mindfulness meditation in Canterbury and will be guest tutor on a British Wheel of Yoga accredited Foundation Course in 2012 - 2013.
You might get into yoga just as a way of exercise, as a way to de-stress and enjoy relaxation, to learn more about meditation, or for specific health reasons. It might take you on a more in-depth journey of personal development. Often it starts with an alternative way of exercise, but it can certainly take you in many different directions. The mindfulness approach which is evident in yoga but which I also teach as a separate mind training practice can underpin and support every area of your life - it trains the mind which is involved in everything you do.
